Why Taiwan’s new investments are angering China | DW News
China has reacted angrily to Lithuania opening a new trade office Taiwan. Growing trade closeness between the EU Baltic state and Taiwan has raised hackles in Beijing. A Taiwanese fund has said it would invest in Litilit, a Lithuanian laser company, further upsetting the Asian giant. But Taiwan says more investments are on the way.
Taiwanese and international businesses are highly concerned about their overdependence on the Chinese economy and the risks of a military conflict. As Chinese President Xi Jinping stepped into his third term, Chinese policy decisions would make doing business in China less predictable and reliable.
