Police have clashed with climate activists in western Germany, where hundreds of people are protesting the expansion of an open-pit coal mine.
Activists have been occupying the village of Lutzerath, which is set to be demolished by German mining company RWE. A police operation to remove the protesters has been taking place for several days. Large anti-coal marches are also taking place near the town, with Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg among those taking part.
