In a statement, he said senior US officials are coordinating with their Turkish counterparts to help the injured and displaced by the earthquake. He added that U.S.-supported humanitarian partners are also responding to the destruction in Syria.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is rejecting fears of a recession and says the economy remains strong and resilient. Her comments come after last week’s jobs report showed that the economy added 517,000 jobs in January.
